Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has engaged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in a light-hearted exchange over the outcome of the Osun State governorship election, telling the former Rivers State governor that he had “beaten” his side at the polls.
The exchange took place in Abuja when Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, visited Wike shortly after meeting President Bola Tinubu at the State House.
In a short video clip that has since gone viral, Davido, who accompanied his uncle to Wike’s residence, was heard repeatedly teasing the FCT Minister over the election result.
“But I won. I beat you guys,” Davido told Wike.
Wike responded with a smile and initially disputed the singer’s claim.
“No, no,” the minister said.
Davido persisted: “I won! I beat you.”
“You beat us?” Wike asked.
“I beat you,” Davido replied.
The exchange drew laughter from those present, with voices in the background heard saying, “I beg o.”
At another point in the conversation, Wike jokingly threatened to collect Adeleke’s Certificate of Return, again prompting laughter among those in the room.
The friendly banter ended with Davido prostrating before Wike before moving to embrace him, drawing applause and further laughter from those present.
The governor had formally received his Certificate of Return following his victory in the August 15 governorship election, in which he secured a second term.

Adeleke polled 511,067 votes, defeating the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes, a margin of 66,252 votes.
Following his meeting with Tinubu, Adeleke continued his political consultations in Abuja with the visit to Wike.
A photograph of the meeting shared by Wike’s media aide, Lere Olayinka, showed the two politicians shaking hands while holding the governor’s Certificate of Return.
“Governor Ademola Adeleke visits the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike,” Olayinka captioned the photograph.
No official details were immediately released about the substance of the discussions between Adeleke and Wike.
