Ademola Abiodun, the Nigerian content creator popularly known as DJ Chicken, was on Friday arraigned before a magistrate’s court in Ogba, Lagos, over alleged threats to kill Seyi, the son of President Bola Tinubu.
DJ Chicken was arraigned before Magistrate M.F. Onamusi on a three-count charge bordering on alleged threat to kill, conduct likely to cause a breach of peace and offences under the Cybercrime Act.
According to the prosecution, the charges followed a video the defendant posted on his social media platforms last week in which he allegedly threatened Seyi Tinubu while commenting on the 2027 presidential election.
In the video, he allegedly said in Yoruba: “Tinubu, you cannot win. If you enter, I will kill Seyi Tinubu.”
Following public backlash, DJ Chicken deleted the video and later claimed the statement was a joke aimed at attracting attention.
He said he had no intention of harming Seyi Tinubu, adding that the controversial video was merely content created to gain popularity.
The prosecution, however, maintained that the alleged threat violated provisions of the Criminal Law of Lagos State and the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act.
DJ Chicken pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The court granted him bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum. One surety must be a government employee, while the other must be a community leader who owns property in Lagos State.
The court also directed that the sureties provide three years’ tax clearance certificates, Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) identification, National Identification Number (NIN), utility bills, while one of the sureties must be a blood relative of the defendant.
Pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions, Magistrate Onamusi ordered that DJ Chicken be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre.
The matter was adjourned until August 3, 2026, for further proceedings.
