For police officers who have endured years of working in difficult conditions, the newly built and equipped police station at Enerhen in Delta State is expected to bring a major change to their working environment.
The Concerned Journalists Forum (CJF) has therefore commended Maton Engineering Nigeria Limited for constructing, furnishing and handing over the facility to the Nigeria Police Force, Enerhen Division.
CJF said the intervention would not only provide officers with a more conducive environment but could also strengthen policing and improve security service delivery to residents of Enerhen and neighbouring communities.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the CJF National Chairman, Comrade Emeka Nwokocha, and Secretary, Mr. Celestine Ukah, described the project as a significant corporate contribution to security infrastructure.
The forum said the condition under which security personnel work can affect their ability to respond effectively to the needs of members of the public, making the new facility particularly important.
“The new police station will boost officer morale after years of working in challenging and uncomfortable conditions,” CJF stated.
The journalists’ group specifically commended the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Maton Engineering Nigeria Limited, Engr. Matthew Tonlagha, for his role in the project and his contribution to community development.
CJF described the intervention as an example of how private-sector organisations can complement government efforts in providing infrastructure required for effective public service.
The forum charged the DPO of Enerhen Police Station, CSP Nnamdi Okeke, to ensure that the new facility and its equipment are properly maintained and responsibly utilised to enhance police operations.
It also urged other companies operating in the Niger Delta to take a cue from Maton Engineering by supporting critical infrastructure projects in their host communities.
According to CJF, stronger collaboration between businesses, government institutions and communities can help bridge infrastructure gaps and improve public services.
The forum said the Enerhen project was therefore not merely about a new police building, but about creating a better environment for officers to work and improving the security services available to the community.
