Fashion entrepreneur Princess Akawor Dolor has said the true measure of a successful business is not the size of its profits, but the lasting impact it leaves on people and communities.
Dolor, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Luxe by Glamoholic, urged entrepreneurs to build organisations driven by values, purpose and a commitment to improving lives.
“Money is important because every business must be sustainable, but profit should never become the only reason for doing business. The greatest businesses are remembered for the lives they touched,” she said.
She observed that consumers are increasingly drawn to brands that demonstrate authenticity, compassion and a genuine commitment to addressing societal needs.
According to her, entrepreneurs who embed integrity and service into their operations are more likely to earn public trust and build enduring businesses.
“People no longer buy only products or services. They buy into values, vision and purpose. That is why every entrepreneur must be intentional about the legacy they are building,” she said.
The philanthropist encouraged business owners to see every challenge as an opportunity to innovate, adding that resilience and ethical leadership remain critical in today’s competitive business environment.
She also stressed the importance of investing in people, noting that employees, customers and host communities should all benefit from a company’s success.
“When your business grows, the people around you should grow too. Success becomes more meaningful when others can point to your business as a source of opportunity, hope and transformation,” she said.
Dolor urged emerging entrepreneurs to define success beyond financial statements, insisting that businesses with lasting relevance are those that consistently create value while remaining committed to responsible leadership.
She further encouraged entrepreneurs to remain focused on solving real societal problems, saying businesses that address genuine needs are more likely to achieve sustainable growth and long term relevance.
“Our greatest achievement as entrepreneurs is not simply building profitable companies, but creating opportunities, inspiring hope and leaving communities better than we found them. That is the kind of legacy every business should strive to build,” she said.
