BRIT Properties targets Africa’s housing gap to become choice brand

BRIT Properties Nigeria Limited has set an ambitious target to become Africa’s leading affordable housing brand by 2030, as it moves to address the continent’s growing housing deficit and expand beyond Nigeria.

Bright Chimezie, group managing director, disclosed this during the company’s 16th anniversary press conference, where he outlined a long-term vision focused on accessibility, affordability, and generational wealth creation.

“Our vision is simple; We want to be the face of affordable real estate in Africa. When people think of affordability in housing, they should think BRIT,” he said.

Chimezie noted that the company’s mission goes beyond property sales to creating sustainable communities and empowering individuals through land ownership.

“We are not just selling land; we are building legacies. What we are doing is helping families create assets that can be transferred from one generation to another,” he added.

He highlighted the housing challenges across Africa, including poor living conditions and persistent landlord-tenant issues, stressing the need for innovative solutions to make homeownership more accessible.

According to him, the company’s long-term goal is to democratise land ownership and make more Africans property owners within the next decade.

In line with its growth ambitions, the company is also undergoing a strategic transformation, rebranding into a broader corporate structure to reflect its expanding interests beyond real estate.

Dorcas Obute, general manager/ head of People and Culture, said the company’s operational success has been driven by discipline, structured processes, and a strong focus on service excellence.

“Our growth has been built on clear systems, rigorous due diligence, and a commitment to delivering value to our clients. As we expand, we are leveraging data and technology to enhance efficiency and impact,” she said.

Chimezie further revealed that the company is exploring expansion into other African markets, as part of its plan to scale its affordable housing model across the continent.

From a single estate at inception, BRIT Properties has grown significantly, with multiple developments across Nigeria, positioning itself as a key player in the country’s real estate sector.

With its renewed vision and strategic direction, the company is aiming to bridge the housing gap while strengthening its footprint across Africa.
