Breaking: Two Farmers Killed, Women Abducted in Kwara Terrorist Attack

Suspected terrorists attacked Oko-Erese community in Oro-Ago, Kwara State, killing two farmers and abducting two women in a daylight assault on Tuesday, sources said. The gunmen reportedly invaded farmlands in Ifelodun Local Government Area and opened fire on victims before fleeing with the abducted women.

Sources said the attackers targeted farmers working on their farms, killing two on the spot, while another resident narrowly escaped death but sustained serious injuries after he was reportedly beaten while trying to flee.

In a related attack in Babanla community, suspected terrorists also ambushed a forest guard operative identified as Saheed and a civilian, Rashid Oke-Apata, while they were riding a motorcycle. The forest guard was seriously injured with a machete wound, while the civilian was abducted by the assailants.

Witnesses said the attackers opened fire on the motorcycle before attacking the forest guard and chasing down the passenger, who was kidnapped during the assault. The injured operative was reported to be in critical but stable condition.

The fresh attacks have heightened security concerns in Ifelodun area, with residents worried over repeated incursions by armed groups targeting farming communities and travelers in parts of Kwara State.
