A prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, has died, with his family announcing the news in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
Orbih, who was an ally of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, reportedly died on Monday, August 31, 2026.
His death has prompted mourning among those close to the politician, while his family has asked friends, relatives and well-wishers to support them with prayers as they come to terms with the loss.
Family confirms Dan Orbih’s death
Confirming the PDP chieftain’s death, his family said the announcement was made “with profound sadness and a heavy heart but in total submission to the will of the almighty God.”
The family disclosed that Orbih is survived by his wife, Mrs Florence Orbih, his children, Ms Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr Mildred Omonemi Orbih, alongside his siblings and other members of the extended family.
The family said, “At this difficult time, we ask family members, friends and well-wishers to remember the entire family in their prayers as we mourn this painful loss.”
Funeral arrangements to be announced
The family has not announced details of the late PDP chieftain’s funeral arrangements.
It said further information would be communicated in due course as relatives and associates continue to mourn Orbih.
His death comes as Nigeria’s political space remains active ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Orbih having been a notable figure within the PDP and associated with Wike.
For now, the family is asking for privacy and prayers as it begins the process of coming to terms with the death of the political chieftain.
