The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has approved the demobilisation of several Inspectors and rank-and-file personnel from various Police Mobile Force (PMF) squadrons across Nigeria, according to an internal police signal obtained by reporters.
The memo, referenced “CH:5660/DOPS/PMF/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.
The directive, signed on behalf of the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, was addressed to Commanding Officers of Police Mobile Force (PMF) squadrons across the country, including Keffi, Ibadan, Yola, Ilorin, Abeokuta, Owerri, Port Harcourt, Ikeja, Asaba, Ado-Ekiti, Lokoja, Gusau, Zaria, Oghara, Ikorodu, Shendam, Takum, Obudu, Okene, and Ilaro.
According to the signal, the affected officers are to be demobilised from the PMF and redeployed to their respective commands on “health and compassionate grounds.”
The Police Mobile Force, regarded as the tactical arm of the Nigeria Police Force, is often deployed for riot control, counter-insurgency operations and internal security assignments across the country.

On May 13, 2026, SaharaReporters reported that Disu approved the transfer of some officers from the Nigeria Police Force, Edo State Command, as part of an ongoing administrative reorganisation within the force.
The development was contained in an internal police signal dated May 12, 2026, and referenced CH: 5360/EDS/VOL.15/55, obtained by SaharaReporters.
The directive, issued from the office of the Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration, Edo State Command Headquarters, Benin City, stated that the redeployment followed approval by the Inspector-General of Police.
According to the document, the transfer was in line with an earlier police communication referenced CH: 5360/FS/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.42/185 dated May 3, 2026.
