The All Progressive Congress (APC) has announced that its governorship primary election in Ondo State was inconclusive due to logistical issues.

TGM gathered that the decision was made after reports from the 203 wards in 18 local government areas indicated that the election could not be conducted as planned.

Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State, who chaired the election committee, explained that the primary could not proceed in some local governments due to delays in the arrival of materials and personnel.

Consequently, the election will be held in all 13 wards of Okitipupa LGA, with a total of 9,515 registered members, starting from noon on Sunday, April 21, 2024.

Several governorship aspirants have raised concerns about the conduct of the election, with some demanding its cancellation and others alleging irregularities. Notably, Olugbenga Edema, Olusola Oke, Jimi Odimayo, Wale Akinterinwa, and Dayo Faduyile have criticized the process.

Despite the controversies, Governor Ododo maintains that the primary was transparent.

However, violence marred the process in Ugbo Ward 3 of Ilaje LGA, where the state’s commissioner for health, Banji Ajaka, was reportedly assaulted by angry APC members over allegations of tampering with result sheets.
