Nigerian rapper Erigga has responded to singer Davido following their recent exchange over a post about artistes who made it in the music industry without family money.
The controversy began after Erigga gave a shoutout to people who had made their money from scratch without relying on family wealth. Although he did not mention Davido in the post, the singer appeared to take issue with the message and reacted to it.
Davido’s response subsequently sparked a back-and-forth between both entertainers, with Erigga now directly addressing the singer’s reaction.
In a series of posts shared on X (formerly Twitter), Erigga questioned why his shoutout to people who made it without family money would upset Davido.
“Na shoutout to the ones wey get it out the mud without family money dey make David crash out? From where to where?”
Erigga continued by sarcastically suggesting that people from wealthy backgrounds should motivate themselves rather than take offence at those celebrating their struggles and achievements.
He further mocked Davido over his privileged background, referring to him as the “Ambassador of RICH KIDS.”
“Big man pikin dey cry say poor men children dey hail dem self??? Motivate your self naw. Ambassador of RICH KIDS.”
The exchange has continued to generate discussion among fans, with social media users taking sides as the two entertainers trade words over family wealth, privilege and the struggle to achieve success independently.
While Erigga’s initial post was not directed at Davido by name, the rapper’s latest response has now made it clear that he is addressing the singer following his reaction to the controversial post.
