Her famous husband Troy was born into a family of hunters on June 9 1960 in Pierre Part, LA.

As of 2023, Troy is 62 years of age. Regarding his link to the hunter ancestry, he once said,

gator hunting is something I grew up. People ask me, “How you got into that?” I didn’t get into it, I was raised in it.

He told that hunting was a way of living for generations in his family. In this regard, he stated,

 it’s something that my grandpa and my uncles used to do. My daddy was a commercial fisherman, he hunted alligators, but my daddy was more of a shrimper and a catfisherman.

Troy also explained that back then his ancestors used to hunt animals just for meat but today, the purpose behind hunting has become different.

Her Husband Underwent Surgery In 2022; What Happened To Troy Landry? 

In May 2022, Bernita’s spouse, Troy underwent surgery in which his prostrate gland was removed. He battled prostate cancer for a while and eventually with the surgery, he got rid of the cancer. Regarding his health, his son Jacob gave an update about his health on Facebook live in which he said,

“Just wanted to give everybody a little heads up on dad. He’s back home feeling much, much better. For those of you that don’t know, he had prostate cancer, and they removed his prostate. Everything looks good.”

Bernita, together with her husband Troy, has two sons named Jacob Landry and Chase Landry, while from her previous relationship, she is the mother to her eldest son Brandon Landry aka Brandon Hotard. As per profession, all her children are in the hunting business.

Her first-born son Brandon, 43, is not much passionate about hunting, he sometimes shows up for hunting on the weekend alongside his two daughters. Though he is not much into hunting, he appeared as a cast member in Swamp People till 2014.
