Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has described music as more than entertainment, saying it is a powerful tool for societal progress and emotional healing. He made the remarks in the For Bunmi documentary while reflecting on his career and personal growth.
The “Cash App” crooner said music functions as “warfare,” explaining that it plays a key role in shaping society. According to him, music serves as an instrument of goodwill and a medium that drives progress and awareness.
Bella Shmurda also noted that music helps people cope with life’s challenges by calming emotions and improving mental wellbeing. He said it allows listeners to “dance away their sorrow,” stay mentally balanced, and feel more alive and self-conscious.
The singer further emphasized that music has a deep social responsibility, stressing that artists influence how people think, feel, and respond to everyday realities through their work.
He added that fatherhood has influenced his approach to music, making him more intentional about the messages in his songs. Bella Shmurda said he now considers the kind of legacy he is creating, so his children can be proud of his work in the future.
