An autopsy report has cleared Ifayomi Oba Edu Jogbodo Orunmila of any involvement in the death of 22-year-old Afrofuji singer Destiny Boy, whose real name was Afeez Adesina.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the findings following investigations into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.
Police spokesperson Babaseyi Oluseyi said the autopsy, conducted by a consultant anatomic pathologist, revealed harmful levels of tramadol, its metabolites and methamphetamine in the deceased’s system.
According to the report, the cause of death was aspiration pneumonitis resulting from the ingestion of the toxic substances, with January 17, 2026, confirmed as the official date of death.
Destiny Boy rose to prominence in 2019 after his Fuji-style cover of If by Davido went viral online. He later released songs including Lamba, One Transaction, Gbese, Billion Dollar, Mio Gbonkankan and Lowkey.
The singer died on January 17, 2026, under circumstances that initially generated public concern and calls for investigation. He is survived by his partner, Iremide, and their child, born in November 2024.
