Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has closed his case at the presidential Election Petition Tribunal, which challenges the victory of President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 Nigerian presidential election.

As the nation eagerly anticipates the Tribunal’s verdict, Musa Sarkin Adar, a prominent member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and a representative in the 9th Federal House of Representatives, expressed his views on the matter during an interview with Arise . Adar accused Atiku Abubakar of being overly persistent in his pursuit of the presidency, spanning two decades, and emphasized the need for self-reflection and improvement. He said that the hunger for power should not drive individuals to act desperately.

Atiku Abubakar’s legal action against President Bola Tinubu was based on his belief that Tinubu’s declaration as President-elect in the 2023 election was illegal, as claimed by the electoral commission. Adar’s stance is that no one should be fixated on attaining power, as it is a fleeting position. Instead, he advocates for patience and self-assessment to identify areas where mistakes have been made. Adar acknowledged Atiku’s long history of contesting for the presidency but emphasized that becoming President should not be an all-consuming ambition.

Despite his reservations about Atiku’s persistent pursuit of the presidency, Adar showed respect for him as an elder and stated that they were once party members in the SDP. Adar emphasized the need for Nigeria to move forward, leaving behind the divisive campaign tactics of the past. He called for unity and cooperation between parties to focus on building a better nation.
