In a recent interview with Arise TV, political scientist Akin Osutokun voiced his concerns about the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nigeria. Osutokun questioned how the party managed to secure victory despite what he perceived as a failed governance.

Osutokun revealed that prior to the elections, he conducted informal surveys by visiting households to gauge their voting preferences. Surprisingly, he found that approximately 90% of the respondents expressed their intention to vote for the Labour Party instead of the APC. He emphasized the stark contrast between these anticipated voting patterns and the actual election outcome.

According to Osutokun, the APC’s victory raised doubts about the credibility of the electoral process and called for a thorough analysis of the election results. He expressed his belief that the APC’s governance had been ineffective, making it difficult to understand why Nigerians voted for the party.

These remarks by Akin Osutokun shed light on the existing skepticism surrounding the electoral system and the credibility of election outcomes in Nigeria. The interview serves as a catalyst for further discussions and investigations into the factors influencing electoral success and public opinion in the country.
