The All Progressives Congress (APC) has challenged the re-election of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke at the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Osogbo.
The petition was formally placed on the tribunal’s notice board on Monday, September 7, 2026, following the conclusion of initial administrative preparations for the hearing.
Tribunal Secretary, Pefe Belemore, had earlier announced that the petitions would be displayed before noon on Monday.
The APC petition, marked EPT/OS/GOV/01/2026, was filed by the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, against Adeleke, the Accord Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
A second petition, marked EPT/OS/GOV/02/2026, was filed by Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), challenging the election outcome.
The PDP petition lists Adeleke, INEC and the Accord Party as respondents.
The petitions challenge the outcome of the August 15 governorship election in which Adeleke was declared the winner and returned for a second term.
The display of the petitions on the tribunal’s notice board is a procedural step that precedes formal proceedings. The respondents are required to be served with the petitions before the tribunal can proceed to substantive hearing.
The specific grounds on which the petitioners are challenging the election result have not yet been made public.
Adeleke remains the declared winner of the election pending the determination of the petitions by the tribunal.
