A video showing former First Lady Aisha Buhari, African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Dino Melaye and Seyi Tinubu at a gathering in Málaga, Spain, has sparked a wave of reactions among Nigerians on social media.
The footage, which surfaced online on Saturday, showed the prominent Nigerians attending a welcome event linked to the wedding celebrations of Saraya and Bawa in the Marbella area of Málaga. Reports identified other notable figures at the gathering as former senator Ben Murray-Bruce and businessman Terry Waya.
The event was held at La Cabane, a Dolce & Gabbana-branded venue, where guests were seen relaxing and socialising.
In portions of the video, Aisha Buhari was seen among a group of women dressed in white, while a large arrangement of fruits, including watermelon, grapes and strawberries, was placed on ice nearby.
The men, including Melaye, Seyi Tinubu and other guests, were also seen posing and interacting at the venue.
The appearance of individuals associated with different political interests quickly became a talking point online.
Melaye is a prominent figure in the ADC, while Seyi Tinubu is the son of President Bola Tinubu, whose administration is led by the All Progressives Congress (APC). Their appearance at the same social gathering prompted some social-media users to question whether political differences extend into the private relationships of members of the political class.
Others focused on Aisha Buhari’s appearance at the event, while some commenters criticised what they perceived as the contrast between the lifestyle of prominent Nigerians abroad and the economic difficulties facing citizens at home.
