After We Tender Remaining Results Sheets, We Will Begin Submitting The ‘Expert Evidence’ In Court–LP
Recent updates on the progress in presenting evidence before the current Election Petitions Tribunal in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) came from the legal team representing the Labour Party and Peter Gregory Obi, the party’s presidential candidate.
One of Obi’s legal team, Ben Anachebe (SAN), stated in a video report posted online by AIT on Wednesday that the legal team was making significant progress toward presenting all of the evidence it had in its possession despite numerous attempts by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to undermine the Labour Party’s efforts in court.
The Senior Advocate said that it might not be essential for the Labour Party to call every witness it has booked to testify, given the intricacy of the case. Based on the results at the ward and polling unit levels for the 17 States that we have so far presented, it is safe to assume that everything is proceeding according to plan for us, he said.
We will start presenting the “expert evidence” in court once all of the outstanding results sheets have been received. As you can see, the evidence is crucial in a situation like this. The Labour Party’s supplementary documents are likewise accepted without reservation. With the exception of the BVAS machine access requests that INEC has not yet granted for us, what is pending is decreasing every day.

Beyond that, however, everything is going according to plan, despite efforts to obstruct and confuse us. Our emphasis is on the task at hand. In the witness issue, we might not wind up calling every single witness. What must be proved ultimately depends on our judgment. Not every witness will be required to testify in court. We were just required to make an educated guess as to how many witnesses we would require when questioned. Considering the number of papers filed, we might not require all of the witnesses.
