Veteran journalist and politician Dele Momodu has taken aim at Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, following the latter’s controversial claim that the All Progressives Congress (APC) could have won the Osun State governorship election if President Bola Tinubu had been determined to secure victory “at all costs.”
Momodu, in a post on X on Tuesday, suggested that Wike was overestimating his political influence, while warning him against assuming that the outcome of the Osun election could have been dictated by political power.
The media personality also drew a sharp distinction between Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, whom Wike has had a prolonged political dispute with.
Reacting to Wike’s remarks, Momodu said the people of Osun would have strongly resisted any attempt by the FCT minister to influence the election.
“OSUN people would have demystified you mercilessly. Adeleke is not Fubara!!” Momodu wrote.
He followed the statement with a blunt piece of advice to the former Rivers State governor:
“My kobo advice, stop equating yourself to GOD…”
Momodu’s comments came shortly after Wike spoke about the Osun election while inspecting areas affected by flooding in Maitama, Abuja.
Wike, who remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while serving as a minister under the APC-led Federal Government, had suggested that the outcome in Osun could have been different if President Tinubu had chosen to deploy the full weight of his political influence.

According to Wike, the President’s determination would have been enough to secure an APC victory.
“If the President had wanted to win the Osun State election at all costs, I would have been there and we would have won it, and there’s nothing the governor can do,” he said.
The statement has since triggered a fresh political exchange, with Momodu challenging Wike’s assessment of his own influence and the political dynamics in Osun.
