ADC Crisis: Samaila Leeman Resigns From Party In Kaduna

BY Samaila Leeman

A former Council Chair and member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sabon Gari Ward, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Samaila Leeman I has resigned from the party, citing internal divisions, litigation, and weak leadership.

Leeman announced his resignation in a letter dated October 11, 2026, addressed to the chairman of the Abbas Ciroma-led faction of the ADC in Sabon Gari Ward, with a copy sent to the chairman of the Dr Katuka Bege-led faction in Kaduna State.

His decision followed consultations with his immediate family and political associates, and he expressed discontent with what he described as resistance to change, systemic corruption and ideological differences within the party.

To him, the ADC in Kaduna State is currently characterised by divisions, court cases and leadership challenges, which he believes make it difficult for members to realise their political aspirations.

“We do not think our aspiration can be birthed by a political party that is led by three factions, persons of inordinate ambition and ulterior motives,” he stated.

Leeman said he and his associates joined the ADC to promote alternative ideas and representation capable of restoring hope in Nigeria’s democracy and advancing prosperity for the people.

However, he said the party’s internal challenges had undermined their expectations and made it difficult to pursue their political objectives under its platform.

Despite his decision to leave, Leeman acknowledged the contributions of some party members, particularly those in the Chikun and Kajuru local government chapters, whom he described as individuals sharing similar political visions and aspirations.

He, therefore, expressed appreciation for the support and relationships built during his time in the party, saying the experience would remain memorable.
