ADC Convention in Crisis, Passing Through ‘Shameful Ordeal’ – Ologbondiyan

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised concerns over what it described as repeated denial of venues for its planned national convention in Abuja, calling the situation “shameful” and politically suspicious.

Chairman of the party’s media and publicity sub-committee for the convention, Kola Ologbondiyan, made the allegation during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Tuesday. He said party officials were repeatedly turned back after attempts to secure suitable venues in the Federal Capital Territory.

Ologbondiyan recounted a specific incident in Mabushi, Abuja, where ADC officials were invited to inspect an event centre, only to be informed upon arrival that the venue was no longer available due to a scheduling conflict. He described the experience as unusual and frustrating.

He alleged that the pattern of venue rejections suggests possible political interference, noting that it was surprising for such challenges to occur outside an election period. He added that despite repeated efforts, several hotels and event centres approached by the party declined to host the convention.

The ADC chieftain further claimed that the situation reflects growing political tension and insecurity within the democratic space, expressing optimism that the party would eventually overcome the obstacles and proceed with its convention as planned.
