ADC: Atiku has purchased 2027 presidential nomination form

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has confirmed that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has paid for his presidential nomination form to contest under the party’s platform ahead of the 2027 election.

The confirmation was made in a statement shared on the party’s official X account on Saturday.

Attached to the statement was a copy of the payment receipt, identified as Official Receipt No. 2881.

The receipt showed that a payment of ₦90 million was made through a bank draft for the party’s presidential nomination form for the 2027 general election. The receipt was dated Friday, May 8, 2026.

The party declared: “A New Chapter in Nigeria’s Democratic Journey.

“H.E. Atiku Abubakar, GCON, has officially received his payment receipt to contest under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 Presidential Election.”

The ADC described the development as a significant part of a broader political movement within the party, portraying it as an important moment in its evolving electoral strategy.

“This development marks another significant moment in the growing movement for national renewal, democratic inclusion, and people-driven leadership within the ADC,” the statement read.

The party also presented itself as a growing alternative within Nigeria’s opposition political landscape.

It added, “As Nigerians continue to seek credible alternatives, the ADC remains committed to providing a strong platform built on unity, competence, economic recovery, security, and national progress.”

According to the statement, the next phase of the process will occur in the coming days.

It noted, “The formal presentation of nomination forms is expected on Monday at the ADC National Secretariat, Abuja.”

The ADC further described the development as evidence of growing momentum within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

“The movement is growing. Hope is rising. Expect more,” the party concluded.

Although the party has yet to provide further details regarding internal arrangements or coalition discussions, the confirmation of Atiku’s payment marks an early and significant development in preparations for the 2027 presidential election, as political parties continue to reposition and build alliances ahead of the polls.

More developments are expected following Monday’s scheduled presentation at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
