A former presidential aspirant and very vocal member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Garba, has been knocked by Nigerians on Twitter for his reaction to a report by BBC (World) on the legacy of the outgoing President, Muhammadu Buhari.

BBC (World) yesterday posted a report on Twitter which summarizes the legacy that Buhari will be leaving behind to kidnapping, inflation, and debt. The article contained factual data to back the rather scathing scorecard of the President.

But in his reaction to the report, Adamu Garba said the BBC’s verdict on Buhari is not surprising because, according to him, western media would always find something on great African leaders to condemn them.

His lengthy tweet read in part:

What do you expect from @BBCWorld? The Western media will always find a reason to condemn great African leaders like President Muhammadu Buhari. Not surprising!”

He proceeded to reel out President Buhari’s achievements to counter the BBC report’s claims, including the President supervising the conduct of “the freest and fairest election beyond any Western countries standards.”

Then he concluded:

“If the Western Media like @BBCWorld, @CNN, @AJEnglish,@ReutersWorld, @AFP, etc are not attacking Buhari’s legacies, then he has not performed for Nigeria.”

However, the majority of Nigerians who reacted to the tweet were unimpressed. Many berated Garba for his double standards, reminding him that he celebrated a phone call from the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They told him he cannot cherrypick what the media writes.
