1. Controversy Rocks APC as its National Chairman Allegedly resigns: On Sunday, there were debates surrounding the purported resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress. Certain sources affirmed that the troubled chairman had indeed stepped down from his role, while others dismissed it as mere speculation.

2. Lawyers, activists demand Emefiele’s immediate release: Several lawyers and civil society groups have expressed their disapproval of the continues imprisonment of Mr. Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The DSS had pressed charges against Emefiele for illegal possession of firearms shortly after a Federal High Court in Abuja declared his arrest and detention a violation of his fundamental rights ordered his release within a two-day timeframe.

More lawyers have now denounced the continued detention of Emefiele and have demanded his immediate release.

Pastor Adeboye speaks following accusations of sourcing his powers from demons in Redemption Camp: Pastor E.A Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has addressed the malicious accusation made against him. During his sermon on Sunday, July 16th, Pastor Adeboye acknowledged the circulating rumors that suggested his powers were derived from demonic sources in Redemption Camp.

In response to these allegations, the clergyman chose not to engage in a direct confrontation. Instead, he decided to pray for the individual responsible, as he believed they had committed an unforgivable sin.

Pastor Adeboye explained that when someone attributes the divine power and glory that rightfully belongs to God to demons, it becomes an unpardonable offense. To support his point, he referenced examples from the Bible and reiterated his intention to pray for the person spreading such rumors.

4. Call for women inclusion in Tinubu’s ministerial list grows louder: As Nigerians eagerly anticipate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s list of ministers, a new aspect of the discussion has emerged: the call for equal representation of genders in ministerial appointments.

Labour Party Closes Case Challenging Governor Mbah’s Victory in Enugu State: The Labour Party has closed its case against Governor Peter Mbah, the candidate of the PDP, in the Enugu governorship election. Chijioke Edeoga, representing the Labour Party, provided testimony from 30 witnesses and submitted multiple pieces of evidence to the tribunal. The Chairman of the Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, Justice M. K Akano, postponed the proceedings until July 18.

10. Naira hits new low at N820/$, as forex supply gap persists: The Naira reached a fresh record low over the weekend. It was traded at N803.9 to a dollar in the official forex market known as the Investors & Exporters (I&E) window, and at N822/$ in the parallel market.
