This Monday, around 8 p.m., a man violently attacked a mother and her daughter on rue Pascal d’Oriano, in Toulon. The individual first attacked the mother, whom he threatened with a knife and then strangled, before slapping the daughter, who was trying to intervene, before finally fleeing.
Identified and located thanks to a witness, the police went to his home, but the suspect, a 36-year-old man from Toulon, was not there. The latter was finally arrested a few hours later.
Apology of terrorism
“On the way to the police station, the suspect made remarks glorifying terrorism,” a police source told BFM Toulon Var. He also threatened a police officer, and more generally all French people, with death.After a psychiatric assessment, the suspect, also known to the police but not to the territorial intelligence services, was finally placed in police custody.
Departmental security is in charge of the investigation.
