New York’s WPIX11 is claiming that the Hamas-linked Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) has found that 64% of New York City Muslims have been the victim of a hate crime.

From CAIR-NY’s report:
“This report only considers the 295 participants residing in the five boroughs of New York City.”
Sixty-four percent of 295 is 188.8. So that works out to be .0024% of the 8,380,000 people in New York City.
CAIR doesn’t share any of its data with us. It doesn’t say how it selected the fewer than 200 participants in this report, or exactly what these people represent. Nor do they give us any examples of the hate crimes these 188.8 Muslims claim to have received.
CAIR does not compare its findings with statistics about hate crimes against other groups such as blacks, whites, Asians, Italians, etc., who might be reporting even higher percentages of hate crimes. That might make CAIR’s message seem trivial and manipulative, and we can’t have that.
Imagine if the news headline read: “CAIR Report Finds That Fewer Than 190 NYC Muslims experienced a Hate Crime.” That just doesn’t have the same ring to it, does it?
Talking in terms of percentages like this instead of actual numbers is something CAIR does in all its reports.
This has the desired effect.
This is classic CAIR media manipulation. These so-called reports are never meant to be read. They are only meant to be waved about, talked over, and misreported in the news.

NEW YORK (PIX11) — A new report examines hate crimes targeting the Muslim New York City residents.
The study, Feeling the Hate, was released by the Council on American Islamic Relations, New York. Legal Director Ahmed Mohamed said the organization wanted to see how often the Muslim community was targeted in bias incidents.
The report found 64% of Muslims in New York City have experienced a hate crime, bias incident, or both.
“We also learned, shockingly, and verified what we’ve been saying all along,” Mohamed said. “Muslims underreport; only 4% of Muslims are reporting hate crimes to law enforcement.”
It was distressing news to report co-author Asad Dandia.
“I’m sad because this report is so raw and so intense,” Dandia said.
During his research, Dandia said they learned “a significant number of witnesses were present in during these incidents and didn’t do anything.”…
