An aspirant for the House of Representatives from Buruku Federal Constituency of Benue, Mr Alex Addingi, says that at least 5,000 youths of the area are to take part in his digital entrepreneurship training billed to start next week.
Addingi disclosed this during an interactive session with newsmen at the NUJ Secretariat in Makurdi, on Monday.
He spoke on his intentions for the constituency, saying that the training was part of his plans to empower the youths of the constituency with different skills for their economic independence.
He said the training was “meant to upgrade the digital skills of the youths and make them understand what entrepreneurship is all about”.
Addingi described the programme as dear to his heart, adding that he also planned to donate laboratory equipment to some schools in the area.
“A friend of mine is coming from China to equip four schools in Buruku with laboratory equipments, which would help to bring out doctors, engineers from this area in the coming years.
“The schools would also start Mandarin courses, which is a Chinese extensive Language were the students can get certification in HSA and can apply for scholarship in China and get it easily,” he said.
Addingi said that having gone round the constituency and familiar with the challenges they were facing, he already knew what they want.
“So, if we don’t train them, whatever we build today would be destroyed.
“All these have nothing to do with campaign but because I have my people at heart, that is why I am coming out to represent them,” he said.
Addingi was Gov. Hyacinth Alia’s Special Adviser on International Investment before resigning recently to run for the House of Representatives. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
