A 29-year-old commercial tricycle operator in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Abdulrahman Nuru, has been allegedly attacked and stabbed to death.
Nuru, a tricycle rider from the Bundot area of Dass, was attacked and stabbed with cutlasses on various parts of his body at Tudun Wus area of the local government.
The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the incident through the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, in a statement he signed and made available to journalists on Saturday.
He also announced that the police had arrested seven suspects in connection with the criminal conspiracy, inciting disturbance and culpable homicide that occurred in Dass Local Government Area on September 4, 2026.
According to him, preliminary investigation revealed that on the said date, at about 6:00 p.m., one Ibrahim El-Safwan, also known as Jabala’i, of Bayan Fada area, Dass, allegedly conspired with his accomplices, intercepted and brutally attacked the late Abdulrahman Nuru.
The PPRO added that, “Upon receipt of the report, a team of policemen attached to Dass Division swiftly mobilised to the scene. On arrival, it was discovered that personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, whose headquarters is close to the scene, had already taken custody of the tricycle and one suspect.”
He added that, “The victim was immediately rushed to General Hospital, Dass, where he was subsequently confirmed dead by a medical doctor.”

Consequently, the tragic incident sparked tension in the area as youths from Bundot mobilised in large numbers, armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons, and stormed Bayan Fada in a reprisal attack.
This led to a violent confrontation between the two groups at an open space near Dass Central Motor Park, during which another victim, 38-year-old Mukhtar Jibrin of Bayan Fada area, was stabbed.
Jibrin was rushed to General Hospital, Dass, and later referred to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi, where he was also confirmed dead.
However, in a prompt and coordinated response, detectives swung into action, doused the tension, restored normalcy and arrested seven suspects in connection with the incident.
The arrested suspects include Umar Abubakar, 20, of Bayan Fada area, identified as the principal suspect; Blus Garba, 19, of Bundot area; Adamu Muhammad, 17, of Bundot area; Hussaini Danjuma, 17, of Bundot area; Hassan Danjuma, 17, of Bundot area; Shuaibu Sani, 17, of Bundot area; and Aliyu Abdullahi, 18, of Bundot area.
The PPRO stressed that, “Meanwhile, relentless efforts are in top gear to apprehend other accomplices now at large.”
The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, while condemning the senseless killings, ordered a discreet and thorough investigation into the matter.
He further appealed to residents of Dass to remain calm and law-abiding and desist from taking the law into their own hands, assuring them that justice would be served.
