2027: Tinubu wins APC presidential primary with 10.9m votes

President Bola Tinubu has emerged as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election after securing a landslide victory in the party’s nationwide primary election.

Tinubu polled 10,999,967 votes to defeat Stanley Osifo, his sole challenger who garnered 16,504 votes across the 8,809 wards used for the direct primary nationwide.

The results were announced during the national collation exercise held at the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.

Governors, party leaders and state coordinators from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory presented the results before the Presidential Primary Election Committee chaired by Pius Anyim, former senate president.

Tinubu recorded overwhelming victories across all geopolitical zones, dominating key APC strongholds in the South-West, North-West, North-Central, South-East and South-South.

In Lagos State, the President secured 814,988 votes, while Kano delivered 500,852 votes and Kaduna returned 618,914 votes in his favour.

He also polled 582,960 votes in Imo, 407,646 in Delta and 389,197 votes in Akwa Ibom.

Osifo recorded only scattered votes in a few states and failed to secure any vote in several others, including the Federal Capital Territory.
