The Chairman of the Delta State Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Paul Oweh, has mobilised members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Emevor Ward 7, Isoko North Local Government Area, for a five-over-five victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
Oweh, who spoke while addressing party leaders and members in the ward on Sunday, said the APC had produced candidates for the presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly elections through its established processes.
He named President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the presidential candidate; Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the governorship candidate; Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas as the Delta South senatorial candidate; Pastor (Engineer) Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko as the House of Representatives candidate for Isoko North/South Federal Constituency; and Engineer Orobosa Ashakah as the State House of Assembly candidate.
“We already have our five candidates. If the President is the candidate, go there and vote for him. Don’t be fooled. These five were chosen after rigorously going through the processes of the primaries. They are the candidates of our party, and I want to inform you, my people, that these are the people we are going to vote for — five over five,” Oweh said.
He urged members to subordinate personal interests to those of the party, constituency, state and country, stressing that APC members should support candidates who emerged through the party’s recognised processes.
Oweh also described the restoration of the previously suppressed State Constituency in Isoko North as a major political breakthrough, noting that the local government had for years operated with only one State Constituency despite having 13 federal wards.
He said concerted efforts by political leaders and stakeholders had culminated in the court judgment restoring the constituency, adding that the electoral authorities had commenced steps towards implementing the judgment through the delineation of the new constituency.
According to him, the restored constituency will comprise six wards from different communities in Isoko North, while the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, is expected to conduct the necessary processes ahead of the 2027 elections.
He urged stakeholders to approach the new political arrangement with maturity and brotherhood, expressing optimism that it would broaden political representation and reduce pressure over the struggle for elective positions.
Oweh further pledged that APC members would support whoever emerged as the party’s candidate for the restored constituency, saying, “However it goes, the candidate that shall emerge is the one we will also vote for in the elections.”
He cautioned members and aspirants against defecting to smaller parties after losing APC primaries, saying such actions could weaken the party and undermine its collective strength.
Meanwhile, APC leaders in Emevor Ward 7 commended Governor Oborevwori for the ongoing construction of the Emevor-Orogun Road, describing the project as a visible dividend of his administration.
The leaders pledged to mobilise support for APC candidates in 2027, saying their decision was influenced by the infrastructure projects and other interventions being delivered by the Oborevwori administration.
They also appealed to stakeholders over the restored constituency to consider a rotational arrangement in selecting its representative, arguing that it would promote equity and give communities within the constituency a fair opportunity to produce the lawmaker.
