Former Deputy Senate Majority Leader, Senator Bala Na’Allah, has declared that although he remains a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he will not force his constituents to support the party in the 2027 general elections.
Na’Allah made the statement during an interview on Arise TV’s Prime Time, while responding to questions about his political position after withdrawing from the APC senatorial primary in May.
The former lawmaker had pulled out of the contest after alleging that the outcome of the primary had already been predetermined.
Explaining his position, Na’Allah said his commitment to democracy required him to respect the political choices of the people he represented.
He stressed that he would not use his political influence to compel his constituents to support a party against their wishes.
“I’m APC. If, for whatever reason, my people believe that APC is not the party they want, my qualification in politics has not taken me to a position where I will ask people to do what they don’t want to do,” he said.
Na’Allah, who had been expected to contest the APC senatorial primary as part of his plans to return to the Senate in 2027, said politicians must recognise the right of citizens to make their own choices.
His position comes as political alignments continue to take shape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
