2027: ‘Delta’s time for change has come,’ Ogboru tells supporters

Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Delta State, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, has declared that the time for political change in the state has come, urging supporters not to lose hope ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Speaking to thousands of supporters who welcomed him at Osubi Airport on Friday, Ogboru said the massive turnout reflected the growing desire of Deltans for a new direction in governance and leadership.

The veteran politician, popularly known as the “People’s General,” praised his loyal supporters for standing by him through the years, describing them as people who have remained steadfast despite political setbacks.

“When I look here, I see so many old faces. These are the people who have refused to give up. Like Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, they refused to accept what was not right,” he said.

Ogboru described the ADC as a platform that offers hope and an opportunity to deliver accountable leadership, integrity and responsible governance in Delta State.

“I believe that with the ADC, there is hope, and we can correct the mistakes of the past. ADC has come, and ADC will deliver the dividends of democracy, good governance, decency, integrity, accountability and responsibility,” he stated.

The governorship hopeful criticized what he described as years of inadequate development in many communities across the state and called for greater investment in infrastructure, healthcare, food security and economic empowerment.

According to him, the 2027 election presents an opportunity for Deltans to choose a different path for the state’s future.

“There is a difference between darkness and light. And I think the path of light will prevail,” Ogboru declared.

He also dismissed allegations that he was working for the ruling political establishment in the state, describing the claims as propaganda designed to distract voters.

“From James Ibori to now, none of them has ever given me a penny. We did not come into this because we are looking for money,” Ogboru said.

Ogboru maintained that his political journey has been defined by his opposition to injustice and poor governance, insisting that reports linking him to the ruling party were unfounded and contrary to his long-standing political record.
