2026 World Cup: New Portugal coach, Jesus speaks on inviting Ronaldo after tournament.
New head coach of Portugal national team, Jorge Jesus, has insisted he would continue to invite Cristiano Ronaldo if he makes himself available.
Jesus has made it clear that the 41-year-old will “never” be a problem.
Ronaldo faced criticisms at the 2026 World Cup, accused of holding the team back as they were eliminated in the last 16 by Spain.
After the game, Ronaldo claimed it would be his last World Cup, but did not categorically confirm if he will continue to play for the national team.
“As long as he’s playing and is in a condition to be selected, I will pick him, within certain limits and under the conditions that I consider best for the national team,” Jesus told reporters Friday at his presentation.
“I haven’t spoken with Cris yet… Cris is never going to be a problem for the national team. Not for the national team, nor for me.”
