Kebbi State Government has warned intending pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj against misconduct, stating that sanctions will be applied to violators during the exercise and after their return to Nigeria.
The warning was issued by the Chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Faruk Aliyu Yaro Enabo, during the inauguration of committees set up to oversee various aspects of the pilgrimage.
Enabo said the committees were constituted to ensure effective coordination of Hajj operations and maintain discipline among pilgrims both in Nigeria and in Saudi Arabia.
He explained that the disciplinary committee, chaired by the state Grand Qadi, Khalifah Mukhtar Usman, is responsible for enforcing proper conduct and handling cases of misconduct.
The security sub-committee, chaired by the Commissioner of Police, Umar Muhammad Hadeija, will oversee security arrangements before departure, during transit and throughout the pilgrims’ stay.
Enabo urged stakeholders to uphold transparency and professionalism in the discharge of their duties to ensure a smooth exercise.
Also speaking, the Amirul Hajj and Head of Government Delegation, Ahmad Ja’afar Jega, called on committee members to carry out their responsibilities in line with established guidelines.
He emphasised the need for collaboration with the Pilgrims Welfare Agency to ensure a hitch-free pilgrimage.
Meanwhile, the state government has commenced vaccination of intending pilgrims, noting that immunisation is a mandatory requirement for entry into Saudi Arabia.
