The Ogun State Police Command, in collaboration with the So-Safe Corps, has successfully arrested two young men suspected of stealing a range of food items and household goods, including a live turkey, palm oil, rice, noodles, toothpaste, soap and other toiletries.

The suspects, identified as Kolawole Shobowale and Moruf Soyoye, were reportedly notorious for their involvement in breaking into shops and houses in the Oke-Ejigbo area of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

The arrest was announced by the Ogun State police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola. According to Odutola, the joint operation took place at approximately 6:30 am yesterday, following intelligence received from Commander Lawal Mudashiru of the So-Safe Corps.

Acting on this information, the So-Safe Corps officer identified a three-member gang and tracked them to their residences. One of the suspects was seen with a blood-stained leg and a live turkey in his possession.

The diligent efforts of the So-Safe Corps operative led to the successful cordon of the suspects’ houses, resulting in the arrest of Kolawole Shobowale and Moruf Soyoye.

Regrettably, one of the suspects managed to evade capture. Odutola confirmed that both apprehended individuals have confessed to the crimes.

Those arrested have confessed to the crime,” Odutola said.

Items recovered from their houses to include: one live turkey, kegs of palm oil, kegs of vegetable oil, a half bag of rice, Indomie noodles, macaroni, detergents, toothpastes, phones, GOtv decoder, sacks of clothes, insecticide, soaps.”

This recovery has prompted residents of Oke-Ejigbo to visit the Oke-Itoku Police Division to identify and potentially reclaim their belongings.

In response to these developments, Odutola disclosed that the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
