Some beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s ₦50,000 relief grant under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI) have shared NairaGram messages indicating that ₦20,000 has been reversed into their accounts.
The message tells the recipient to dial *726*00# to activate the account and withdraw the funds. It follows complaints from users unable to access their NERSI money through the provider’s application or Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) code.
A social media post accompanying the screenshot claimed NairaGram was returning money after failed transfers. It advised affected users to wait before trying again.
However, the screenshot does not prove that NairaGram has begun a general reversal exercise or that the Federal Government’s ₦50,000 grant has been withdrawn. The alert appears to describe a transaction reversal into an account, but the reason has not been confirmed.
NERSI is managed by the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction. Selected households receive the grant through approved providers, including NairaGram. The government says beneficiaries should receive the full ₦50,000 without deductions.
Beneficiaries facing failed transfers should confirm earlier transactions before trying again. Keep screenshots and transaction references when contacting customer support.
What beneficiaries should do
NairaGram users can dial *726*00# and follow the prompts. If the problem continues, contact NairaGram on 0201 330 0880 or 0201 330 0881. They can also call the NERSI helpline on 0700-022-2222. Never share a PIN or one-time password (OTP), or pay anyone to release the grant.
