₦50,000 FG Grant: What to Do If You Have Received an SMS but No Money

Beneficiaries should know what to do if they receive a notification for the Federal Government’s ₦50,000 relief grant but cannot see the money in their accounts or mobile wallets.

The support is being disbursed under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI), Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.

Receiving a selection message does not necessarily mean the money has been credited. Beneficiaries must first give consent by following the instructions in the SMS from their designated payment provider. This may involve replying YES or dialling the provider’s Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) code.

After consent, the provider opens or links the beneficiary’s mobile wallet and processes the ₦50,000 payment. A confirmation message should follow when the wallet is credited.

The ministry says payments are being made in phases, with providers contacting beneficiaries in batches. A delay does not automatically mean a beneficiary has been excluded.

What to do

If you received a selection SMS but no money, check whether you completed the consent process. Follow only instructions in a genuine message from ALAT by Wema Bank, MoMo Payment Service Bank (PSB), NairaGram, OPay or Moniepoint.

Check your wallet balance and transaction history. If you accepted the grant but the credit is still missing, contact your provider through its customer support channel or call the NERSI helpline on 0700-022-2222.

Do not pay anyone to release the grant, click links or disclose your Personal Identification Number (PIN), One-Time Password (OTP) or Bank Verification Number (BVN).
