“You lack sense of humanity” – Yvonne Jegede blasts FG over rising insecurity in Nigeria

Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has criticised the Federal Government over the worsening insecurity situation in the country, accusing authorities of failing to adequately protect citizens and respond to victims of violent crimes.

In a post shared on her Instagram page, the actress expressed concern over the persistent reports of killings, kidnappings and other forms of criminal activity across different parts of Nigeria.

Jegede argued that insecurity goes beyond the occurrence of crimes, stressing that the real issue lies in what she described as the perceived lack of urgency and empathy from those in authority when incidents occur.

According to her, many Nigerians feel neglected and unprotected, believing that there is little or no meaningful effort to locate missing persons or ensure justice for victims.

She directly addressed President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu in her post, urging the government to recognise the value of every Nigerian life and improve its response to security challenges.

The actress maintained that citizens should not feel like their lives are disregarded, adding that the growing sense of hopelessness among Nigerians is worsening public trust in the system.

Jegede also noted that insecurity has affected people across all backgrounds, stressing that victims are not being targeted based on tribe, religion or social class.

She wrote in part: “The Nigerian government lacks a sense of humanity. Nigerians are not doormats nor people to be treated carelessly. Crimes happen everywhere in the world, but the issue here is that Nigerians believe no one will come looking for them when they are missing. These incidents cut across tribe, religion and class.”

Her comments add to ongoing public discourse on insecurity in Nigeria, where concerns over kidnappings, armed attacks and violent crimes continue to dominate national conversations.
