Yahoo Boys Causing More Harm To Nigeria’s Economy Than Any Other Group — EFCC Spokesperson

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has warned that cybercriminals, popularly known as Yahoo Boys, are inflicting more damage on Nigeria’s economy than any other group.

Spokesperson Dele Oyewale made the remark in a video released by the commission, highlighting the growing threat of internet fraud and its impact on businesses, investments, and national development.

Oyewale stressed that the activities of these cybercriminals undermine economic stability and tarnish Nigeria’s international reputation. He urged citizens to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and cooperate with law enforcement to curb the menace.

He emphasized the EFCC’s commitment to prosecuting offenders and safeguarding Nigeria’s economic interests, stating, “The present reality today in this country is that the so-called Internet fraudsters, the so-called Yahoo Boys, they are wreaking more afflux, terrible afflux on the economy than any other set of people.

And for us to come out of this perception, we need to realize the fact that the anti-corruption fight is a blood-based fight.”

The EFCC reiterated its resolve to intensify efforts against cybercrime, warning that offenders would face strict legal action.
