Workers Remain Central to Nigeria’s Economic Recovery — APC Chieftain

By Caleb Ishaya

A member of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Tolu Bankole, has commended Nigerian workers for their resilience and contributions to national development, describing them as the “engine room” of the country’s progress.

In a statement issued in Abuja to mark the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, Bankole lauded workers across both public and private sectors for their dedication and patriotism, noting that their sacrifices continue to sustain the nation despite prevailing economic challenges.

He emphasised that the ongoing reforms under the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu are designed to reposition Nigeria for long-term growth and prosperity.

According to him, the government’s socioeconomic policies are guided by a broader vision to build a stronger and more competitive economy, rather than short-term gains.

Bankole also pointed to what he described as “relative peace” in key sectors, particularly education, as a sign that current reforms are beginning to yield positive results.

While acknowledging that the gains so far are modest, he maintained that they represent early indicators of a broader transformation process.

“The full benefits of these reforms will become more evident as policies mature and economic gains are consolidated,” he said, adding that Nigerian workers would ultimately be the greatest beneficiaries.

He urged workers to remain patient and committed, calling for continued patriotism and constructive engagement as partners in nation-building.

The APC chieftain further reassured workers that their welfare remains a priority for the government, stressing that policies are aimed at stabilising the economy, improving living standards, and creating sustainable opportunities.

He concluded by wishing Nigerian workers a fulfilling Workers’ Day celebration, while reiterating calls for unity and solidarity among the labour force.
