Nigerian movie producer, Hope Omenihu Samuel has shared her perspective on the cause of the recent sudden deaths of Nollywood actors.
She said there has to be a change in the movie industry and it must adjust its attitude toward performers’ work ethics and give great attention to personal well-being.
The filmmaker who spoke during an interview with The Sun emphasised the need for actors to start taking good care of themselves
She said; “We need change. If I were put in charge, l would organize seminars on how to take care of ourselves while we are still strong. A lot of us work, work, and work without taking good care of ourselves and before long, we fall sick and begin to treat ourselves with our life’s savings, because of neglect over the years.
“We have to learn that even when we are working so hard, we can still take care of ourselves by eating and resting at the right time. People are dying and falling sick because of total disregard for their personal well-being. This is not right”.
No less than seven actors have died this year, namely; Sisi Quadri, Mr. Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor, Andy Best, Jumoke Aderounmu and Junior Pope.

Last month, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, Emeka Rollas, has claimed that the mother of late actor, Pope Obumnene Odonwodo aka Junior Pope, believes her son was killed.
The AGN president made this known in a recent interview while talking about how Junior Pope’s Cameroonian mother was surprised that her son drowned.
Recounting the incident, Rollas disclosed that CPR was conducted on the Nollywood star when he was brought out of the water after four hours, but he didn’t make it.
He said; “I was with his mother yesterday, and all the rumours online are making her feel that her son was kxlled. I had to let her know that I was also supposed to be in the boat.
“Anybody that said they didn’t perform CPR on Jnr Pope is a liar. He was brought out d£ad after spending over 4 hours under the water.”
