Why I stopped speaking against government – Mr Macaroni

Nigerian actor, comedian and social activist Adebowale Adedayo, A.K.A Mr Macaroni, has opened up about the personal risks he faced as a result of speaking publicly about government and political issues.

The 33-year-old comedian was known for using his platform to comment on governance but has become noticeably quiet in recent times.

Speaking about his decision to become less vocal on government-related matters, the entertainer said the threats he received eventually became a serious concern for his family.

According to him, the situation went beyond threats directed at him, as his mother became frightened by what she believed were unusual movements around their home.

He said: “I stopped talking about the government because I was receiving so many threats, and my family wasn’t safe.

He added: “My mom would call me crying that there is strange movements around the house. They wanted to fly me out, but I said, No, I’m staying.”
