Popular Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon has opened up about why he walked away from acting in 2019, saying he was unhappy with both the pay and the kind of work he was getting.
Speaking on a recent episode of the CreativiTea podcast, Okanlawon said there was a point in his career when acting stopped giving him the fulfilment he expected.

The actor explained that after leaving his corporate job to focus fully on acting, he believed the profession would be more rewarding. But according to him, the reality was far from what he imagined, as the projects he worked on and the money he earned left him disappointed.
He said the situation made him question his decision and eventually pushed him to leave the movie industry and return to a 9-to-5 job.
“So, I quit acting in 2019. I quit because the pay and the work were nonsense. And I just felt like I didn’t leave 9 – 5 work to come and do mediocre work.
“It was difficult to wake up in the morning and go to work, and what is the point of being passionate about something and then not being fulfilled by it. So I quit and then went back to 9-5 work”, he said.
