‘We don’t have hotel’ – NCS

NCS prison hotel

The Nigerian Correctional Service, (NCS), on Wednesday, stated that that it does not own a hotel or any such establishment.

The NCS said the Correctional Service Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society, Hotel and Gardens Project was not funded or developed by the Federal Government.

Public Relations Officer of the Service, Umar Abubakar, made this known in Abuja, while reacting to concerns raised about the hospitality facility.

He said in a statement on the Service’s official Facebook page that the hotel was an investment of the NCoS Cooperative Society which was strictly about staff welfare.

Abubakar explained that it was a product of strategic thinking and efficiency on the part of the agency‘s cooperative unit.

The spokesperson who wondered why some people would discourage meaningful investments, said that the Hotels and Gardens was inaugurated on 1 March 2021, by the former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.

According to the NCOS PRO, the said report is not only misleading but also targeted towards misinforming the public.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the said hotel was built in the year 2021 and it’s exclusively owned by the Correctional Cooperative Society.

“The cooperative society was established for all personnel of the service and was formed in the year 1996,” the statement read.
