The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the availability of certificates for candidates who sat for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.
The examination body said the certificates can now be accessed, downloaded and shared through its Digital Certificate Platform.
WAEC disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, August 21, 2026.
“The 2026 WASSCE for School Candidate Certificate is now available for access on the WAEC Digital Certificate Platform,” the examination body said.
The development allows candidates to obtain their certificates digitally without having to wait for a physical copy.
The 2026 WASSCE was conducted between April 21 and June 19, 2026, with candidates from more than 24,200 secondary schools participating in the examination.
According to WAEC, candidates can access their certificates through its official website or the WAEC Digital Certificate mobile application.
The Digital Certificate Platform provides two major services.
The first is Certificate Access, which enables candidates to view, download and share their certificates.
The second is Certificate Confirmation, which allows institutions and organisations to verify the authenticity of certificates presented by candidates.
The digital certificate is expected to make it easier for candidates to present their academic credentials for admission, employment and other official purposes.
How to download your WAEC certificate online
Candidates who wish to access their 2026 WASSCE certificates are required to:
- Visit the official WAEC website and access the Digital Certificate Platform.
- Select the Certificate Access option.
- Enter the required examination and identification details.
- Complete the verification process, including OTP authentication where applicable.
- View and download the digital certificate.
- Save the certificate securely or share it with the relevant institution or organisation.
WAEC also advised candidates to use its official Digital Certificate application, available on the Google Play Store, to access their certificates.

The examination body clarified that the digital certificate platform is separate from the WAEC result-checking portal used by candidates to check their examination results.
The release of the certificates comes after WAEC announced the results of the 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates.
A total of 1,950,726 candidates participated in the examination, while 1,200,514 candidates, representing 61.54 per cent, obtained credits and above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
Candidates checking their results are required to generate a PIN and serial number through the WAEC website before accessing the result-checking portal.
