Nigerian singer Oludipe Oluwasanmi David popularly known as Spyro, has raised concerns over the sexual content in some music videos, saying many artistes may not be comfortable allowing their children to watch their work.
Spyro made the remarks while reflecting on the Nigerian music industry, his own music and the values that influence his career.
“A lot of us as artists are not even proud to have our children watch our music videos, you know, because it’s pornography, literally,” he said.

The singer, who openly identifies as a Christian, also clarified that being known as a “Jesus Boy” does not mean he makes gospel music.
“Now, I may be Jesus Boy, my music is not necessarily Jesus music, you understand? I’m a Jesus Boy because I love God, I serve God, but I don’t do gospel music,” he said.
Spyro further disclosed that he has spent millions of naira on music production, revealing that he has invested as much as N100 million in some songs.
“There are songs I’ve spent 100 million on, and when you go check the streams, sometimes you’ll be like, ‘What’s going on?’ The most I’ve spent on a music video is about 50 million,” he said.
Speaking about his musical influences, Spyro singled out Afrobeats star Wizkid, saying he had learned from him musically.
“Wizkid influences everybody. I learned a lot from Wizkid musically,” he said.
The singer also attributed his success to his decision to turn to God after his efforts to make progress in his career failed.
“I tried everything, I tried talent, I tried everything I could, but everything failed. And then I went back to God,” he said.
According to Spyro, his prayer at the time was also driven by his desire to help his mother.
“There’s nothing I can do now. Even if you don’t help me for myself, at least help me for my mom,” he recalled.
