Udom Emmanuel hails Tinubu’s reforms, urges Nigerians’ support

Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel, has called on Nigerians to rally support for President Bola Tinubu amid the country’s current challenges, adding that such solidarity will help to stabilise Nigeria.

“When nations face existential crises, leaders are bound to rally around the incumbent leadership, in a bid to rescue and restore normalcy.

“Our case in Nigeria shouldn’t be different as we confront our current challenges”, Udom said.

According to the former governor, “Mr President deserves all our support,” adding that “the country’s macroeconomic ecosystem has some cheery news.”

Udom commended Tinubu for the economic reforms his administration has implemented and the positive impact they are beginning to have on key macroeconomic indicators.

The former governor affirmed that as a player in Nigeria’s economic and financial sector, there are some improvements in critical economic indicators.

His position was made public by his Special Assistant on Media, Barr. Stephen Abia, while fielding questions from journalists on preparations for the celebration of the former Governor’s 60th birthday.

He spoke further, “As you well know, Mr. Emmanuel is a very private person who shies away from personal celebrations.

“However, attaining the age of 60 is a significant milestone, and he had previously agreed to a proposal by his friends to mark the occasion. He later had to cancel the celebration.

“Governor Emmanuel has instead chosen to devote the day to a private retreat, during which he will offer private supplications and reflect on the critical themes of leadership, responsibility and nation-building.

He stated that he could not ignore the positive macroeconomic indicators emerging from the bold and far-reaching economic reforms undertaken by President Tinubu.

He expressed confidence that, “in due course, these improvements in the macroeconomic fundamentals would translate into tangible benefits for ordinary Nigerians and strengthen the country’s overall economic well-being.”

He believes that policies which advance the national interest deserve full support of all Nigerians.

Accordingly, he assured the President of his support to “further strengthen the reforms that promote Nigeria’s economic growth, stability and prosperity.”
