By Olawale Akinremi

A Grade A Customary Court sitting at Mapo, Ibadan, has ordered four suspected thieves remanded for allegedly stealing generator spare parts, valued N1.5 million, belonging to University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan.

The defendants are Adebayo Azeez, 55; Sola Otolorin, 46; Lekan Solademi, 32; and Habeeb Adebayo, 30.

All four pleaded not guilty to two-count of conspiracy and stealing when the charges were read in court.

The court president, Mrs S.M. Akintayo, admitted each defendant to N500,000 bail with two reliable sureties in like sum.

Akintayo ruled that “each surety must provide evidence of tax payment to the Oyo State Government.”

She thereafter adjourned the case until Feb.

18 for trial.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Ayodele Ayeni, told the court the offence occurred on Jan. 24, around 7.20 p.m., at Ogunlesi Hall, UCH, Ibadan.

Ayeni said the defendants conspired to steal various generator spare parts worth N1.5 million belonging to the hospital.

According to him, the offences contravene Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000. (NAN) (www.nannews.com)
