The Nigerian Army says troops of Operation Hadin Kai, have apprehended a suspected Sudanese terrorist fighter, three ISWAP collaborators and logistics suppliers in sustained counter-terrorism operations across Borno and Yobe.
Operational reports obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, said troops of Operation HADIN KAI made the arrests during separate intelligence-led operations across the North-East theatre.
The report said troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion arrested 32-year-old Sudanese national, Musa Fashir, at Lassa, Dille area of Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno.
According to the report, preliminary intelligence linked Fashir to terrorist elements, reinforcing concerns about the infiltration of foreign fighters supporting insurgent activities in Nigeria’s North-East.
It said the troops also arrested Mary Florence, 36, who claimed to be an illegal immigrant from Ghana, adding that authorities were investigating her identity and possible criminal or terrorist links.
“Meanwhile, troops of 27 Task Force Brigade and the Civilian Joint Task Force arrested a suspected ISWAP collaborator at Shishiwaji in Gulani Local Government Area of Yobe.
“The suspect, believed to be an illegal miner with strong terrorist connections, was arrested with three mobile phones during the operation.
“Troops on farm protection patrol also intercepted two suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers at Kasabalari in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno.
“Recovered items included two bicycles, one mobile phone, identity card, pesticides, medicines, bicycle parts, a solar panel, torchlight and knives.
Military authorities said the operations underscored the effectiveness of intelligence-led missions in disrupting terrorist logistics, foreign infiltration and support networks across the North-East. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
