Owen Omogiafo, president and group chief executive officer of Transnational Corporation Plc (Transcorp Group), has increased her stake in the diversified conglomerate with a N75.83 million share purchase, reinforcing confidence in the company as it continues to expand its asset base and sustain earnings growth.
A regulatory filing submitted to the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) showed that Omogiafo acquired a total of 1.9 million ordinary shares in two transactions executed on July 27 and July 28.
The filing indicated that she purchased 1,848,000 shares at N39.02 per share on July 27 before acquiring an additional 52,800 shares at N40.75 per share the following day. The combined acquisition of 1,900,800 shares was executed at an average price of N39.89 per share, bringing the total investment to N75.83 million.
The latest purchase increases Omogiafo’s direct shareholding in Transcorp from 6,872,769 shares as of June 30, 2026, to 8,773,569 shares.
Based on the company’s prevailing market price, the stake is now valued at about N368.5 million, further aligning the chief executive’s personal investment with the company’s long-term performance.
The acquisition comes as Transcorp continues to strengthen its balance sheet and expand investments across its businesses spanning power generation, hospitality, energy, real estate, and agro-allied services.
The Tony Elumelu-controlled conglomerate owns interests in Transcorp Power Plc, Trans Afam Power Limited, Transcorp Hotels Plc, Aura by Transcorp Hotels, Transcorp Energy Limited, and other real estate businesses.
Under Omogiafo’s leadership, the group’s total assets have climbed above N1 trillion for the first time, driven by continued expansion across its operating subsidiaries.
According to the company’s unaudited financial statements for the six months ended June 30, 2026, total assets rose to N1.09 trillion from N1 trillion at the end of December 2025, underscoring continued investment across its strategic business segments.
The stronger asset base was accompanied by sustained earnings growth during the first half of the year.
Transcorp reported revenue of N241.53 billion for the six months ended June 30, 2026, while profit after tax stood at N54.37 billion.
The group also strengthened its capital position during the period. Shareholders’ equity increased to N367.84 billion from N353.39 billion at the end of 2025, while retained earnings rose to N197.78 billion from N181.18 billion, reflecting continued earnings retention to support future expansion.
The insider purchase adds to a series of share acquisitions by senior executives and directors across the Nigerian Exchange this year, as company insiders increase exposure to businesses they believe are positioned for sustained earnings growth despite a challenging operating environment.
